Due the winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service for Tuesday, February 18th, the Soil Health and Cover Crop Forums scheduled in East Wareham, Grafton and Leominster, Massachusetts have been cancelled. The forum at UMass., Amherst will be held as scheduled.
The forums were to include a live-streamed video broadcast of the opening sessions of the National Conference on Cover Crops and Soil Health in Omaha, Nebraska, followed by a discussion with fellow forum participants how cover cropping can build soil health, improve yields, curb erosion, manage pests and build resilience into your farming system.
Forums are being held simultaneously at nearly 200 locations nationwide hosted by the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and Cooperative Extension. The sessions are jointly funded by the USDA-NIFA Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation.
Any follow-up information that is made available after the conference will be posted to the Massachusetts NRCS website at www.ma.nrcs.usda.gov. If you have any questions, contact Tom Akin, thomas.akin@ma.usda.gov, 413-253-4365.
