Accelerated lamb production

Lambing is typically an annual affair. For most sheep breeds, the autumn brings about the natural mating season. Lambs arrive in the spring, when grass is greening up, providing a plentiful diet. But commercial sheep production requires a year-round supply of lambs, and accelerated lamb production methods can make it feasible for producers to fulfill those needs.

Hoptoberfest: A hops and brewery grains workshop

CW-RP-3-Hoptoberfest3EAST AURORA, NY — With partial funding by the Farm Credit Northeast AgEnhancement program, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Erie County hosted a two-day workshop taught by New York State hops specialist Steve Miller; NWNY Dairy Team Crop Specialist Bill Verbeten; and Chris Gerling, extension sssociate at the Cornell Geneva Farm.

Winners of the Young Farmer Achievement Award were recently announced at the New Hampshire Farm Bureau Federation 99th Annual Meeting. Farmers between the ages of 18 to 35 from around the state competed for awards by demonstrating knowledge of and achievement in agriculture, as well as showing their commitment to promoting the agriculture industry.
